[Workshop] Exploring History through Comics: a Tour through the Archives of the Casa de Velázquez (Madrid, 20-21 April 2026)

©Mika Baumeister

This workshop is part of the activities of the CALC 2 project (https://www.casadevelazquez.org/recherche-scientifique/politique-scientifique/patrimoine-heritages-et-reecritures/calc-2-1)) and COST Action COS-MICs (CA24160) (https://cosmics.hypotheses.org/) within Working Group 2 and Working Group 4. It is conceived as a collaborative environment between academic research and artistic creation, centred on a reflection on the possibilities of “pulp historiographies”, understood as the use of the language of comics as a tool for research, interpretation, and transmission of historical knowledge. Over the course of these two days, we will explore the spaces of the Casa de Velázquez in order to examine how graphic narrative can contribute to documenting history and to proposing new approaches to cultural and institutional heritage through comics.
